Jeanne Balibar is a French stage actress who has also featured in over 40 art house and independent films by directors such as Jacques Rivette, Olivier Assayas or Arnaud Desplechin since the beginning of the 1990s. A chance meeting with musician and singer Rodolphe Burger in 1999 sparked the start of a fruitful musical collaboration and the release of two critically acclaimed recordings – Paramour in 2003 and Slalom Dame in 2006.
Throughout his career with his experimental rock band (Kat Onoma – 1986-2004) or as a solo artist, Rodolphe Burger has always acknowledged the Velvet Underground as a major influence on his music. His recent “This is a Velvet Underground song that I’d like to sing” (2012) is a collection of cover songs from the legendary American band. This connection is further enhanced by the fact that Jeanne Balibar’s singing style is so reminiscent of Nico’s voice.
A classy and atmospheric musical gem, this 2010 live version of “Le tour du monde” originally appeared on Paramour (2003).
